Matcha Barista is perfect for lattes, smoothies and baking.
Its emulsion is a bright, intense green, a colour prized by matcha enthusiasts. It offers distinct vegetal notes of arugula accompanied by subtle hints of milk chocolate, giving the tea such a well-balanced flavour. The stimulating effect is instantaneous!
This is the first matcha from China to secure a place in our selection. It distinguished itself through its high quality, impressing our expert taster with over 25 years’ experience. This matcha is produced in the province of Guizhou from leaves harvested under under covered growing, as practiced for the finest Japanese matcha. This technique encourages the tea plants to produce more chlorophyll and results in less bitterness in the leaves, giving the matcha greater smoothness and roundness.
HOT (makes 350 ml)
- Whisk 2 g (1 teaspoon) of matcha in 50 ml of hot water (around 90°C).
- Foam and add 200 ml of hot milk (plant-based or animal).
- Sweeten to taste.
ICED (makes 350 ml)
- Pour ¾ cup (around 180 g) of your preferred milk into a glass filled with ice.
- In a small bowl, whisk 2 tsp (4 g) of matcha with 1 to 2 tsp of sugar into about 50 ml of hot water (between 75 and 95 °C), until smooth and slightly frothy.
- Gently pour the matcha over the milk, stir if desired, and enjoy.
