Sunday is Funday!!!

Kanata local community members will have a chance to register for various activities, tastings and workshops lead by local artists, craftmakers and specialists. We will host these small group gatherings at Mint & Honey on Sundays and in-store shopping will be limited to workshop participants only. We will provide tea and cookies during breaks.

Sunday February 1st, 2026m:

1PM: Drawing with Scissors - An Introduction to Collage

Drawing with scissors is a beginner friendly collage workshop inspired by Henri Matisse’s colourful collages of cut and pasted papers. Using scissors and paper as a drawing tool, participants will explore shape, movement and composition through guided exercises and an open final piece. Class will be lead by local artist and art therapist Suzanne McCleary.

Date: Sunday February 1st, Time 1PM, Duration 1.5 hours, Cost: $35, Class size Min 4 - Max 8 participants.

3:30PM A Love Note to You - 5x7 whimsical portrait 

Barbi Defazio of Red Raspberry Studios will lead this workshop. In this workshop we will play with liquid watercolours while learning the basics, then Barbi will teach a Mini Whimsical Portrait session and then we will finish of our pieces with an inspiring quote or uplifting reminder. You are encouraged to bring your own favourite quotes or words of inspiration however Barbi will provide examples as well.

All supplies are included. You will take home a completed 5×7 piece that you can frame or simply tape on your wall or mirror for a daily inspiration that came straight from you!

Sunday February 8th, 2026:

1:30 PM - 4:30PM: Valentine Tote and Watercolours

Relax, sip tea, and play with watercolour & acrylics in this beginner-friendly creative session led by Kimberly Hamilton of Silver Heights Creative Studio and Jasmine Dhillon of FeelingNifty.com. In this 3 hour session you will be guided through fun and easy watercoloring techniques with a valentines theme, like hearts, cherries, xox patterns. While your watercoloring work dries you will design and paint a beautiful Valentines cotton tote bag with acrylic paints. You will leave this session confident to pursue practicing with watercolour special techniques and with 2 beautiful creations ( one 11x17 watercolour filled with technique ideas as well as a personalized hand painted cotton tote).
