We proudly offer this herbal infusion made in the Yukon by a very small specialized producer. Fireweed is picked seasonally and painstakingly rolled, dried, fermented, washed and cut and left to rest over many months before the final product is ready.
Fermented fireweed was historically a Russian tea drink popular everywhere the plant grew and is still made with a variety of recipes. Early settlers passed on the traditions in Alaska and Canada's western coast. It is naturally caffeine free and relaxing, the infusion tastes closer to an oolong or herbal tea rather than black tea.
1oz tins contain 6 to 8g of loose-leaf fermented fireweed, 4oz tins contain 10 to 12g. Use sparingly, less then 1 teaspoon/cup, add boiling water for brewing and let steep 5 minutes, re-steep for a second infusion 7 minutes.
